I'd skimmed Kushiel's Scion when it first came out (I refused to buy hardcover, and finding a library seemed like too much trouble). It was much better, I admit, though it does annoy me to no end how a virgin Imri doesn't, beg pardon for the crassness, blow his load in the first two seconds of his first willing sexual encounter.
