Buh! (aka, VM 1.20 - M.A.D.)
Oh, man.
ohimesamamama is just going to love that last shot.
I'm going to have to wait a week, because my DVR does not love me enough to freeze on specific images in the trailer. Sometimes life is so hard!
I loved Carmen's approach in the end. I loved that she could look at Veronica and say "revenge isn't going to make me feel any better about what happened." And honestly, Weevil's vengeance was so much more satisfying. And continuity! Total hee!
That ending just rips my heart out. Not for the shocker that it's meant to be, because I spoiled myself. But just the way Logan's shot, and the way it's scored and the way... oh, just the way it's so obvious that he was hoping his life would get back to some semblance of normal. It's all the more poignant for Aaron's commentary to Veronica, and last shot of Logan drinking and drifting the water, like his link to the Earth has been cut.
I love that whole shot. It's so very deliberate. We start off facing him from the dock, then follow his movements until it seems like his drifting off to sea. Which so effectively describes his state of mind in the last few episodes. I love this art for exactly this reason - how one scene, one shot, one glance from the perfect actor can accurately convey to the audience exactly what needs to be conveyed.
I need people to call and squeal with. Otherwise I'm just stuck reading the wails of twelve-year-olds and researching GHB.

Speaking of continuity, I checked the pilot to see if Tad was the guy photographing himself with Wallace, but alas.
Are twelve-year-olds upset because the foreveromg!?!11!love of Veronica & Logan is crushed? I see plenty of angsty potential for them still.
Interesting thoughts about the visuals in that last scene as representation of Logan's alienation. He's definitely putting space between himself and his asshole buddies; Duncan's gone; Lilly's dead. He's been drowning in Veronica, and now he's drifting without her. Quel dommage.

Oh, there's plenty to angst about. There was plenty to angst about in the first place. I especially love Logan's retreat whenever Veronica brought up their "secrecy" thing - it's very Lilly-esque of her.

Indeed! I don't think the secrecy thing was a good idea in the first place, and now... heartbreaking.
And the water essay sounds cool; I'll have to check it out.

And I'm smacking myself in the head for not recognizing GHB earlier - I'm sure I covered it in my Neuroscience classes, especially how it connects to GABA receptors... </geekiness>

And, of course: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GHB
A nice comparison/contrast between GHB and Rhophynol is here:

Okay, so maybe that wasn't the end of the geekiness...
