Batman II Mild Spoilers, and Geeking

[livejournal.com profile] adelynne:*bounce bounce* I love Christopher Nolan.
[livejournal.com profile] fuyu_no_fuhei: I'm glad. Does [boyfriend] know?
[livejournal.com profile] adelynne: And if I wasn't passionately in love with [boyfriend], and if he wasn't married with children, I might offer to have his babies.
[livejournal.com profile] adelynne: I think he suspects.
[livejournal.com profile] adelynne: Because the Batman Begins sequel is titled The Dark Knight, which is a great appropriation of something that needed to be appropriated to a better cause than a stinky over-rated Frank Miller book.
[livejournal.com profile] adelynne: And Heath Ledger is playing the Joker.
[livejournal.com profile] fuyu_no_fuhei: Ah.

Ooo, this could be cool.

I'm not sure if the rumors about the casting for Harvey Dent are genius or madness. This could turn into Brokeback Gotham.

I never saw Brokeback, but I greeted that with a cautiously optimistic "yay!" I have the feeling that Nolan will want a Dent who's on the money with optimistic, young DA but also flip on a dime to that traumatized boy who suffered great pain as a child.

If Gyllenhaal can pull it off, superb.

Your description of Dent's character reminds me of the extremes Gyllenhaal had to portray in Donnie Darko. I think he could pull it off.

I kind of want the psychotic, batshit crazy Two-Face from No Man's Land. I loved the scene where he cross-examines himself.

I do love that. I also love the issue of NML where he's helping out in Montoya's neighborhood. It's more properly filed under Cataclysm, but it's in the NML trades.

I loved The Dark Knight Returns. I found it just as rated as I had heard. Batman: Year One as well. I have heard bad, bad things about TDKSB, though, and have stayed away.

And you should continue to stay far, far away. :)

I find DKR influential, but ignoring large parts of the Batman mythos as a whole - like the whole detective thing. That bothers me.

Year One, though, I like a great deal.
