Big Dreams, Little Thoughts

Ukraine's loss was not unexpected, though the score wasn't too nice. Still, quarter finals, their first time ever. They'll do better next time, when they're not so nervous.

Argentina is a big blow, however. There go my dreams of the Cup for them.

UPS simply refuses to deliver my books (and my Pride and Prejudice miniseries, and the boy's wireless card...) when I'm here. I literally camped out in front of my building in wait for the UPS guy, and he came by after I had to leave to meet friends for dinner. GRR!! Argh!! So still not murdering cat-thieves or insane gay mages for me. I amuse myself pondering what they could possibly be doing in Chapter 5 as a way to pass the time. (Yeah, sad. The Coop didn't have it stocked either.) Also attempting to get through A Wizard of Earthsea and Looking for Jake. Let you know how that works out.

Despite looking forward to this break for a long time, my jobless state is only now starting to sink in. Strange, I thought it would be a bit more revelatory. So, in that spirit, a poll.

[Poll #759870]

They were really impressive for a while in the second half - they rocked the Italian defense a couple of times, and if Gigi Buffon hadn't been pretty darned spectacular in goal, it could easily have been 1-1 before it was 2-0. So, you're right to feel proud of their achievements. YAY!

That's good to hear - now I won't be afraid to watch the game. :)

Watch out for Artem Milevskiy - he's only about 21, I think, and very, very good.

And awww, the Ukrainians were seriously awesomely good sports - Shevchenko said he'd be cheering for all his Italian friends from now on (awwww!) and Milevskiy said it was a privilege to play against Buffon, Totti and the rest of the Italians.

Also, some of those boys were CUTE :P (There was one guy with seriously the bluest eyes I've ever seen and at the very end of the match during the obligatory shirt-swaps I noticed some fine-looking abs :P)

Thankfully B&N had a copy so I read several more chapters on my break earlier today. And I came home to find that my copy is now waiting for me at the library. Woohoo!
