Well, it was my first Arisia, and I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it were my last. We had fun, doubly so as I managed to drag Doyle out to the con and we met interesting people, but there are only so many ways the Universe has to scream "not your kind of party!" before I wrap my head around that.

I didn't go to many panels - mostly [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna's and [livejournal.com profile] nihilistic_kid's. The other one that I went to - I already forget what it's called, but it was on Friday night and had something to do with discussing modern work that illustrates not vanilla-hetero relationships - quickly veered off-topic, the room was hot, and we had to leave before it was over because Doyle wasn't feeling well, and niether I nor [livejournal.com profile] justbeast were that interested.

We did have honey pepper vodka that night, and Doyle's cold was much better in the morning. Go figure.

I had to miss everything before 2 on Saturday, which was somewhat disappointing, but really okay. We grabbed sushi for lunch, but got it to go from the Porter Exchange, and there is something very satisfying about eating good sushi on the con floor and watching people's heads turn. Eventually, one brave soul came up and asked "Does the hotel serve sushi?" and we had to explain that no, you actually have to leave to get it.

Then we went to the slipstream panel, which [livejournal.com profile] nihilistic_kid kid ran with an iron hand and a velvet glove. It was fun to watch, even if I wasn't very well versed in the subject. Afterward, [livejournal.com profile] grailquestion and I went off to the LJ meetup while [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna went to give blood and [livejournal.com profile] justbeast and Doyle wandered off to the comic panel (which was apparently pretty cool). We met some people, mainly the ones we already knew, like [livejournal.com profile] rosefox and [livejournal.com profile] sinboy, and escaped to wander the third-floor dealers halls. It was kind of funny, because [livejournal.com profile] grailquestion was trying to show me Jennifer Parrish's work, and I had the attention span of a ferret. "Oooh! Pretty! Let's go here!" And everywhere we went people were commenting on the "Goose Me." shirt she was wearing.

We ran into a few people we knew in real life, which was fun; met [livejournal.com profile] blazepoet and [livejournal.com profile] yakavenger, which was funner. They showed up to [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna's reading, and we went out to an Indian restaurant we knew locally, only to be seated by a guy in a pizza shirt and very bad English and told to call the owner of the restaurant who had stepped out for a minute. He didn't pick up, and we went across the street to the Royal East, where [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna entertained us with the story of her Worldcon Japan panel that morning.

After dinner we went back to the hotel for the parties. The best way I can describe it is that it was a range of options. Doyle and I were pretty tired at that point, though, so we hung out and talked with people and got to see [livejournal.com profile] blazepoet's underwear, but I didn't last much past midnight before I was rubbing my eyes like a five year old and had to be taken home and put to bed. [livejournal.com profile] grailquestion, [livejournal.com profile] justbeast, and [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna hung around, though, and didn't get back until much later.

Sunday was very low-key. We got there around noon for [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna's panels, and I went to get my old corset adjusted (which was then put on me, which I really ought to have prepared more for), and up to the dealer's room on the 14th floor before it shut down. I did manage to acquire Black Thorn, White Rose, and am happy to have done so.

I got back downstairs in the last five minutes of [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna's first panel of the day, and as people I knew filed out everyone went "ooooh" at the corset, which was very fun. We then went to catch [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna and [livejournal.com profile] nihilistic_kid's last panel, about gender-expanding genre fiction, at which point I knit while wearing said corset. It was good discussion, though I did unintentionally interrupt one panelist.

Later we went home and ordered Thai food. I wanted to wear the corset until [livejournal.com profile] mrsix showed up, but I lay down and my lower back went into a spasm. The last bit was no fun at all - we had to get the corset off, and get my electric stim unit, and [livejournal.com profile] justbeast gave me a quick massage that helped, but in the end, I was basically immobile for the rest of the evening. People ate and left, and more people came by, and left. I read some Orphan's Tales, though that was bad of me because Doyle & I are supposed to be reading them aloud.

Now I'm at work, but I get to leave early for my chiro appointment and massage at 3. I just need to revive myself to get some work done before that point.
