I just have no idea how they're going to do it. So much of those books depends on characters (and by extension the reader) not knowing what the hell is going on, something they won't be able to depict onscreen...
I'm afraid I have to disagree. His approach is rather cinematic in the sense that as long as we're in a character's POV, we know what they know, but as soon as we flash to another's, we get another piece of the puzzle. And TV is rather adept at that.
That's actually the bit I'm a bit sceptical of. TV and film both are very good at presenting a larger picture, as it were. For example, at the end of A Storm of Swords, when we get both Jon and Sam's perspective on the same events, they can't do both. I suppose they'll just have to pick and choose bits from each.
Which is very doable, I guess. I just hope they've got a good screenwriter because this will be a massive project. At least we know they've got the CGI technology for it.
