I return from my weekend in a different city practically every night to find a comic store about half a mile away from my house. I explored it, and came away with two Robin trades. Yay.

I also managed to talk my friends into temporarily parting from some of their TPBs, which saves me time and money, as well as lets me enjoy Alfred at his total and complete snarkiness. There's something completely and totally functional about the Bat family's dysfunctionality. I love it.

I've also decided to explore the Cartoon Network's JLU offerings. So far, so... eh? I've come in in the middle of a story line, and while I enjoy the Joss-Whedon-reunion (Amy Aacker, Morena Baccarin, and Nathan Fillion, just so far), I've yet to actually acount for about half of the founding members.

Disgustingly annoying airlines on Saturday did provide me with the opportunity to write two scenes for the novels. I suspect it would have helped more had the scenes been destined for the first novel, rather than the second, but I write what I can. Also, one of the scenes irons out a how I get into a major plot point, and the other plays with the Tam Lin and Thomas the Rhymer stories, so I shall be content.

Speaking of Tam Lin - I suspect I would have enjoyed it more had I not thought about it too hard. As is, the end leaves me dissatisfied. She spent so much time building these characters up, but the payoff just isn't there. Contrast with The Harp of the Grey Rose, by Charles de Lint, which took up the other part of my reading time on and between flights, where the pacing and character development was consistent - and the threat more real.

In fantasy, I think that The Left Hand of Darkness is up next.
