I strongly dislike animated icons as a rule. I tell you this, dear people, so that you will understand how seriously geeked I am when I say the following:

I absolutely need to find/make/get someone with more talent to construct an animated icon of Ivanova, White Stars, and the ships out of "Into the Fire" (4x06), which says "My White Star brings all the First Ones to the yard."

Thank you, and good night!

Have to know more about your need for this icon. Babylon 5 was possibly one of the finest science fiction series ever to air, at least until Claudia Christian fought with the director during that interminable break when the series was screwed over by the network and went into hiatus for two years before the last season. If I remember correctly, Ivanova was in command of a portion of the fleet that was engaged against the shadows after Centauri ended its alliance with them, but I don't remember the details. I'm going to have to rent the DVDs and watch them all again.

Oh, the boyfriend & I were discussing the novel-esque progression of B5 while riding home in the car, and how if we had to pick "two best" episodes in each season it's just very unbearably difficult in season 3 (I'd go with "Severed Dreams" and "Z'ha'dum" and he'd go with "Severed Dreams" and "Shadow Dancing.") and then went into how at that point several episodes connected in mini-arcs.

Which all led into the discussion of how the arc would have been spaced if they didn't expect to be cancelled at the end of S4. And that led into how at the end of "The Long Night" Sheridan is reading the note Sinclair left him ("to seek, to strive, to find, and not to yield") as he leads the armada to Corianna VI, and they're all there except one little White Start (carrying Ivanova & Lorien).

Which lead me to say "Because Ivanova's off gathering the First Ones. You know, "My White Star brings all the First Ones to the yard." And there was much laughter.

Great story! This seriously makes me want to go watch the entire story again. It is one of the few series ever on TV that I missed only rarely. I think my favorite was, if I recall the title correctly, "The belly of the wolf." It was another that Ivanova played prominently in.

"The Hour of the Wolf" which is fourth season opener.

*is such a massive B5 geek.*

Claudia Christian never fought with the director. She had problems with contract renewal in light of commitments she made when told that B5 would end after the fourth season. In the end, they could not be resolved to her satisfaction, so she left the series.

That said, I'm glad she did. I loved the character beyond belief, and am pretty sure I'd have seriously blown a fuse if she'd hooked up with Byron after the Marcus debacle, as she was "supposed" to do.

My recollections are pretty fuzzy at this stage. I knew there was some item that couldn't be resolved, even though Claudia had acted pretty much as a one-woman cheering squad for the entire cast while they were in limbo. AS with many of our own writings, the characters themselves seem to step in occasionally and create new paths through the story because that's the way life works.
